Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city endured intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The strikes follow periods of air raids in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to identify.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
